Recycle Your Blow Dryer... Save on a New One.

I have to share this because (a) it's too good to pass up, and (b) it's good for the environment.

Folica has a blow dryer recycling program. And if you're a cheap-ass like me when it comes to spending on anything other than clothing, accessories, or makeup this is a great time to spring for the extra $50-100 on a brand spanking new blow dryer. Your hair will thank you for it.

I've been eyeing the Sedu Revolution TGR 4000i hair dryer (available in black and pink) for quite a while but couldn't wrap my head around spending over $100 on a hair dryer. My current cheapie drugstore dryer, however, drives me insane and with my short hair, still manages to take FOR EVER to dry.

Here's the deal: Follow the link, fill out the form (press the green "Save $40 Now" button) and they will send you a code for saving $40 on your next blow dryer via email in about 30 seconds.  The best part is you can shop now, and send the old one later.  I needed a new one so bad I was just about willing to trade mine in first, but luckily you don't have to do that.

I hope some of you get to take advantage of this great deal!
And if you don't need a new blow dryer, they also have a holiday code right now for $25 off any order of $75 or more, plus free shipping using the code HOLIDAY75, ends Monday, December 26.

Super Toes

If your feet feel like being super heroes...

...give them something shiny to wear and, of course, a cape.

These Alexander Wang Fabiana high heeled sandals are a little too interesting for my taste, but they made me giggle so I had to share.

Pac-Man Ghost

Want to spend $4,880.00 to look like a
head-to-toe brown Pac-Man ghost?

Wait, do Pac-Man ghosts have toes?

In any case, this Akris cashmere cape is double-faced cashmere with cape sleeves and actually looks really cute on the model on the runway, but I can't help thinking I would just look like a Pac-Man ghost.

Hee hee.

Sod on your bod

Would you wear a grass dress?

Okay, so it's not grass.

Unless you've been living under a rock (yes, I like saying that a lot) Monique Lhuillier's exclusive couture collection has arrived at Neiman Marcus and one of the spotlight pieces (pictured above) looks like they got the fabric from this turf warehouse.

It's a gorgeous dress, but to me it just looks like artfully draped grass. Sorry, Monique.

All joking aside, this is a gorgeously designed collection, demonstrating Lhuillier's very evident decade-plus worth of talent.

The advantages of having spent years designing wedding gowns are countless but the top two, IMHO, would be their innate attention-to-detail and the experience of making dresses that are meant to just fit perfectly. Take a look at this gorgeous, ridiculously form-flattering, chantilly lace example (Look 16 from the Fall 2011 runway show: Illusion-Neck Cocktail Dress). If I had the dough to spare, I would find a way of owning this dress... but at $3,300 I'm sure the only place I'll see this dress is on the red carpet.

I understand (and would probably do the same) when women drop loads of $$ on a wedding gown.  But let's get real, spending the same amount on a non-wedding dress is beyond most of our means.

Regardless, this is like art to me.
Beautiful, unattainable art. ;)

Bobs? Really?

Does Skechers think we are all idiots? Or is it trying to capitalize on (or just blatantly rip off) the generous concept developed by Blake Mycoskie?

Taking a closer look at the label, I do see that they also are donating a pair (and maybe two pairs) of shoes to needy children for every pair purchased (just...like...TOMS) and they are partnered with  Soles4Souls (a really great organization) in this endeavor, but really? "BOBS?" And espadrilles too?? Now, I know Blake Mycoskie neither invented the espadrille nor invented donating to needy causes in this manner, but you couldn't be a little less transparent, Skechers?  If you like the concept so much, why not work with TOMS and not compete with them? Or find an equally generous way of donating pair for pair that doesn't utterly and completely lack originality.

If you've been living under a rock and don't know about TOMS
shoes, you can read about them here (video too).

Long sigh.

The fashion disclaimer:
I don't own a pair of TOMs because I think they are a little too trendy, a little too granola, and frankly not stylish enough, but I would definitely buy a pair for a friend and I absolutely admire the idea behind it all.  And I do think they are getting cuter. I saw a cute pair of TOMs wedge (not flat!) espadrilles on a girl at the airport the other day and they were pretty cute.

How many muppets have to die?

How many muppets do you think were killed to make this Etro coat?

I think the killing of muppets is heinous, but if you have to do it, I say leave it to throw pillows or shag rugs.
